Welcome to Dean Hoke’s Home Page
Greetings from Bloomington, Indiana. I am Dean Hoke the Co-Founder of Edu Alliance, a higher education consulting services company located in Abu Dhabi, UAE and Bloomington, Indiana USA where I serve as Managing Partner. I consult primarily in the higher education field with universities around the world. I consult on a variety of projects including, branding and reputation, market intelligence, recruitment, academic partnerships, and distance learning.
I began my professional life in 1974 as a paid admissions intern at Urbana College during my junior and senior year. Since then I have worked in the higher education and media industry, serving in senior leadership roles specializing in marketing, communications, partnerships & online learning.
After graduation in 1975 I joined Bellarmine University in Admissions and in 1979 named Director of Development and Alumni with Bellarmine University. In 1983 I entered the broadcasting field as a VP of External Relations and in 1989 became a General Manager and President for several PBS/NPR stations from Connecticut to Texas to Alaska. In 1994 until its launch in 1998 I returned to Louisville, Kentucky where I was Executive Vice President of a start up network called the Military Channel. In 1998 after launch of the network I left to co-founded The Connected Learning Network, a full-service online learning company. In 2009 I was offered the opportunity to live and work outside the United States and went to the United Arab Emirates where I served in senior positions at Higher Colleges of Technology & Khalifa University in the United Arab Emirates before co-founding Edu Alliance in October 2014.
I am currently a board member of the American Association of University Administrators and a member of the European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN). I recently was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Franklin University School of Education.
I am actively engaged in numerous advisory & consulting projects in international education, branding, business intelligence, and online learning leading projects in the United States, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. I have presented and written on higher education, leadership, international relations, and distance learning worldwide.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from Urbana University, Ohio in 1975, my Master of Science in Community Development from The University of Louisville in 1979, and graduated from the Wharton School of Business Executive Management program.
In the world of hobbies I am a life long baseball fan, listen to a variety of forms of music but prefer 1930’s – 1960’s swing and jazz, and of course travel. I am married to Nancy Baer Hoke for 32 wonderful years and we currently reside in Bloomington, Indiana.
